How to open mp4 files in Virtualdub

Codecs can get in the way quite often when we're working with various formats of video files, but here is a method which can be used to open mp4 files using Virtualdub.

Make sure you have a recent version of virtualdub (I am using virtualdub 1.8.8 for Windows).

Now download this zipped quicktime codec. Unzip the files, and place Quicktime.ini in your Virtualdub root folder, and place the plugin32 directory also in your Virtualdub root folder.

You should now be able to open most mp4 files with Virtualdub!
