MSN adCenter PPC Experiment Update 4

MSN adCenter PPC Experiment Update 4

Posted by matt on Fri, 19/01/2007 - 1:05pm in

2 days have passed since my last update, and in that time I've made some improvements, the initial results of which I hope are an indication of their success.

As I mentioned previously, I started out with a "general" landing page and MSN ad order, about the CPA offer I am promoting. I began planning a few days back to target each specific sub section of the industry niche, by creating a dedicated landingpage, MSN ad, and associated keywords for each.

Yesterday I setup my first targeted niche landingpage and Ad, and as soon as the Ad had been activated by MSN, and the initial popular keywords were accepted, I deactivated them from my initial "general" campaign.

I did this to ensure that my targeted Ad campaign was receiving all the impressions for the niche targeted keywords that were possible.

First impressions are that this targeting has been successful, overnight the CTR for my targeted campaign sprang into life, and it quickly got its first 9 clicks, costing me $4.78, or 53 cents per click.

Of those 9 visitors to my new targeted landingpage, 3 clicked through to my affiliate offer, and of those, 2 completed the lead. This targeted offer is using a similar affiliate, which has a payout per lead similar to the first one I started testing with.

So in summary, from a total PPC spend of $11.71, I've now earned around $115.

I am now setting about creating a range of other sub-niche targeted campaigns, which I hope to have activated within a day or two.

The keyword conversion tracking script I mentioned is also approaching completion, and should be rolled out within a few days as well, allowing me to see immediately which keywords are giving me leads, and which are simply costing me money. This is not too much of an issue at my current spend, but once I have been building up my campaigns for a while, it will become far more important for reducing unproductive spend, and maximizing profit.

are you still doing this or

are you still doing this or what?

Not much these days

Haven't been doing much of this for quite a while. Didn't find I was able to keep it going very easily, so I let it slip mostly.

However I've been testing out a few new things with PPC lately.

Interesting to see someone still reading these old posts of mine - maybe I should post some new material. I don't really keep track of how many RSS subscribers I've got, so didn't think there was much of a response to earlier PPC posts I'd made...
