Add Social Bookmarks to Drupal

Add Social Bookmarks to Drupal

Posted by matt on Fri, 29/12/2006 - 1:33am in

As you will have noticed, I've added a row of social bookmarking links at the bottom of each post - something I've been meaning to add for a while now. So I headed on over to browse the many user contributed modules for Drupal, , to find the inevitable social bookmarks module.

Sure enough, along came this little beauty of a module - service_links

You can choose from a range of popular social bookmarks to display, including del.icio.us, Digg, Reddit, ma.gnolia.com, Newsvine, Furl, Google, Yahoo, Technorati, IceRocket and PubSub.

I believe it's also easy to add any other social bookmarking sites that you might like to feature.

Naturally the URL/title of each post is automatically formatted correctly, and displayed as either an image, link, or combination of the two.

It was a 30 sec install/setup as well, which is always nice. Enjoy.

Awesome

Thats a cool way to get many people to submit you to a bookmarking site. Especially if your a popular blog ;)

Thanks

It is such a great moduke to have,

I have been using a similar on on my site. I may need to do a side by side and compare the two.

Kudos...

Where is your bookmarking link?

Mmh, seems you have removed the social bookmarking link you are refering to in your post. What was your reason?

Its just a row of properly

Its just a row of properly formatted social bookmarking URLs (for submission) so that when your visitors click them, all the URL / Title fields etc are filled in... they still have to be logged in etc and manually submit it.

In the end during an upgrade I didn't bother to add the links back here, as I would have preferred simple Digg links to the appropriate Digg page, rather than Digg Submit links...
